Welcome to One-Pager 101: The Ultimate How-To Guide!
Whether you’re a nonprofit pitching a program, a small business clarifying your message, or a freelancer figuring out how to explain what you do without rambling (I’ve been there!), this One-Pager 101 series breaks down the process into easy, doable steps.
The first post covers what a one-pager actually is and six big benefits they bring to the table. It’s worth starting here so you know how and why one-pagers work before you dive into the design process.
The next seven posts walk you through my trusty, patent-pending (not really), slightly-obsessive process for making one-pagers that actually work:
- Compile: Gather everything you’ve already got—mission statements, stats, branding materials, the works. (We like to avoid wheel-reinvention around here.)
- Crowd: Nail down who you’re talking to and what they care about most.
- Call: Craft a call to action that takes your audience from, “I’m in,” to “Let’s go!”
- Compose: Shape your message into a story that’s clear, compelling, and can fit on a single page.
- Condense: Edit like you mean it—keep the gold, cut the fluff.
- Clarify: Make sure your message actually makes sense to someone who isn’t you.
- Create: Design it to look great and make an impact, whether it’s digital, print, or for a live presentation.
